Print at 100 % (actual size). “Fit to page” shrinks the photos. Every file is drawn fresh on a canvas, so no EXIF data, GPS location or camera details are kept.
Privacy: your photo is cropped in your browser and never uploaded. It is opened and drawn inside this page with the browser's own canvas. Nothing is saved on this device after you close the tab.
How to make a passport photo
- Take the photo against a plain white or light wall. Face the camera, in even daylight from a window in front of you, with nothing behind you. Have someone else hold the phone about 1.5 m away at eye height; a selfie at arm's length makes the nose look bigger.
- Pick the document and open the photo (or tap Take a selfie on a phone). The sizes, head range and upload limits for that document are shown under the list, with a link to the office that states them.
- Tap the top of the head, then the chin (and the eyes, for a document with an eye band). The top of the head means the top of the hair. The tool straightens the head, scales it to the middle of the allowed range and centres it.
- Fine-tune. Drag to move, pinch or use − and + to zoom (5 % a step), rotate a little if the head is tilted, and adjust brightness. The checks under the photo turn ✓ when the head, eye line and top gap are inside the stated ranges.
- Download. Download photo gives the single photo at the exact pixel size (searched under the kB limit where an office states one, with the final kB shown). Print sheet fills 4 × 6 in, 10 × 15 cm or A4 paper at 300 DPI as JPG or PDF.
What it cannot do
- It does not remove or whiten the background. Most offices want a plain white, off-white or light grey background, so it has to be there when you take the photo.
- It does not judge expression, glasses, lighting, shadows or red eye. It measures only what you mark; it does not find your face itself, so a mis-tapped chin gives a wrong head height.
- No guarantee of acceptance. The passport or visa office makes the decision and its rules change; check the official page linked beside each document before you submit.
- Values an office does not state are not shown. Pakistan's DGIP states only an upload size (350 × 467 px), so there is no head check or print sheet for it, and no document here has an invented number.
- Nothing is kept. Close or reload the tab and the photo is gone. HEIC photos open only in browsers that can show HEIC (Safari can; most others cannot).
Passport and visa photo sizes
Head height is from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (the hair). The eye line is measured up from the bottom edge. Each value was read from the linked page on 17 October 2026; “not stated” means that page gives no number, so the tool shows none.

Where a size is in inches, the photo is made in inches: 2 × 2 in at 300 DPI is exactly 600 × 600 pixels, while 51 mm would round to 602. A 35 × 45 mm photo is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI. On a 4 × 6 in sheet with 2 mm gaps, 35 × 45 mm photos are turned sideways because 8 fit that way and only 6 upright.
Questions
What size is a passport photo?
It depends on the country. The US and India use 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm) with the head 25 to 35 mm from chin to crown. The UK, the Schengen countries, Australia and Japan use 35 × 45 mm, but the head range differs: 29–34 mm for the UK, 32–36 mm for Australia and Japan, 26–30 mm for a Dutch passport. Canada uses 50 × 70 mm (head 31–36 mm) and a China visa 33 × 48 mm. The table above links each value to the office that states it.
How do I print passport photos on 4x6 paper?
Make the photo, choose 4 × 6 in under Print sheet and download the JPG. The sheet is 1,200 × 1,800 pixels at 300 DPI and holds as many copies as fit with 2 mm gaps and cut marks: 8 photos of 35 × 45 mm, or 2 of 2 × 2 in (6 with Edge to edge, which leaves no border). Print it at 100 % or “actual size”, not “fit to page”, at a photo kiosk or on 4 × 6 photo paper, and cut along the marks.
How do I resize a photo for an Indian passport?
Choose India passport, open the photo and tap the top of the head and the chin. The tool makes a 2 × 2 inch photo with the head in the middle of 25–35 mm, and the download is 600 × 600 pixels with the JPEG quality lowered step by step until the file is no more than 100 kB, the limit an Indian consulate states (it also asks for at least 20 kB). The final kB is shown before you upload it.
What size is a Pakistani passport photo for the online form?
The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports asks for a colour photo with a white background, 350 × 467 pixels, JPEG, no more than 3 MB. Choose Pakistan passport and the download is exactly 350 × 467 pixels. DGIP's page states no printed size or head height, so this tool shows none and makes no print sheet for it.
Is this passport photo maker free online, and is my photo uploaded?
It is free with no account and no watermark, and the photo is never uploaded: it is opened, cropped and saved by your own browser. The page counts only an anonymous visit and three fixed event names (photo opened, photo downloaded, sheet downloaded), never the photo, a file name or a measurement.
Will my photo meet the passport photo requirements?
This tool gets the size, head height, eye line and file size right for the document you pick. It cannot check the background, lighting, expression, glasses or shadows, and it does not remove or whiten the background, so take the photo facing the camera in even light against a plain white or light wall. The office decides; read the official page linked beside each document before you submit.
