Alberta's Employment Standards Code (s. 25) names nine general holidays; Alberta Family Day is the third Monday in February (15 February in the Government of Alberta's 2027 table). The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Boxing Day are not on that list, so they are not marked. Heritage Day (2 August) and Easter Monday are optional days an employer may choose to give.

Manitoba's Employment Standards Code (s. 21(1)) names nine general holidays, with Louis Riel Day on the third Monday in February and Orange Shirt Day (the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) on 30 September. Remembrance Day and Boxing Day are not on that list, so they are not marked; nor is the August civic holiday.

Newfoundland and Labrador's Labour Standards Act (s. 14(1)) names six public holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Remembrance Day, Memorial Day (1 July, which is also Canada Day), Labour Day and Christmas Day. Victoria Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving Day and Boxing Day are not on it, so they are not marked. The provincial government's own paid holidays (St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day, the June holiday, Orangeman's Day and others) are days off for its public servants, not general holidays, and are not marked either.
Nova Scotia 1 day
Nova Scotia Heritage DayNova Scotia Legislature Labour Standards Code, s. 2(ga): the third Monday in February retrieved 2026-10-14
Nova Scotia's Labour Standards Code (s. 2(ga)) names six general holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day, Christmas Day and the third Monday in February, which the province calls Nova Scotia Heritage Day. Remembrance Day is kept under its own Remembrance Day Act and stays marked. Victoria Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving Day and Boxing Day are not paid general holidays under the Code (Thanksgiving and Boxing Day are retail closing days), so they are not marked; nor are Easter Monday and Natal Day.
Ontario 1 day

Ontario's Employment Standards Act, 2000 (s. 1(1)) names nine public holidays, with Family Day on the third Monday in February. It has no National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and no Remembrance Day, so those two federal days are not marked for Ontario. The August Civic Holiday (Monday 2 August 2027) is not a public holiday under the Employment Standards Act, so it is not marked; an employer may still give it as a day off.
Prince Edward Island 1 day
Islander DayGovernment of Prince Edward Island Employment Standards Act (P.E.I.), paid holidays: 3rd Monday in February retrieved 2026-10-14
Prince Edward Island's Employment Standards Act gives eight paid holidays, with Islander Day on the third Monday in February and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on 30 September. Victoria Day, Thanksgiving Day and Boxing Day are not among them, so they are not marked.

Quebec's Act respecting labour standards (Loi sur les normes du travail, art. 60) names seven statutory general holidays, and the National Holiday Act (Loi sur la fête nationale) adds 24 June. The Monday before 25 May is the Journée nationale des patriotes there, not Victoria Day. The Easter holiday is Good Friday or Easter Monday (29 March), at the employer's choice; Good Friday is marked. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Remembrance Day and Boxing Day are not on Quebec's list, so they are not marked.

Easter Monday and Boxing Day are not statutory holidays there, so Boxing Day is not marked.

Yukon 2 days
National Indigenous Peoples DayGovernment of Yukon Employment Standards Act, s. 1 (date as the Government of Yukon lists it): June 21 retrieved 2026-10-14
Discovery DayGovernment of Yukon (laws.yukon.ca) Interpretation Act, s. 21(1): the third Monday in August retrieved 2026-10-14
Yukon's Employment Standards Act (s. 1) names eleven general holidays, adding National Indigenous Peoples Day (21 June) and Discovery Day, which the Interpretation Act (s. 21(1)) fixes as the third Monday in August. Boxing Day, Easter Monday and Yukon Heritage Day are not statutory holidays, so Boxing Day is not marked.

The table is generated from the holiday data shipped with this page (holidays-2027.js and holidays-2027-regions.js); no date is typed in by hand. Legal basis for the federal list: Canada Labour Code, section 166.

Long weekends in 2027 Canadian federal statutory holidays

Three or more days off in a row, made of Saturdays, Sundays and the holidays marked on this calendar.

  1. Fri 1 Jan – Sun 3 Jan 3 days New Year's Day
  2. Fri 26 Mar – Sun 28 Mar 3 days Good Friday
  3. Sat 22 May – Mon 24 May 3 days Victoria Day
  4. Sat 4 Sep – Mon 6 Sep 3 days Labour Day
  5. Sat 9 Oct – Mon 11 Oct 3 days Thanksgiving Day

Bridge days — suggestions, not holidays

Ordinary working days between a holiday and a weekend: book them as leave and the days off join up. They are never marked on the calendar.

Take 1 day off, get 4

  • Fri 2 Jul → Thu 1 Jul – Sun 4 Jul, 4 days off in a row Canada Day
  • Fri 1 Oct → Thu 30 Sep – Sun 3 Oct, 4 days off in a row National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
  • Fri 12 Nov → Thu 11 Nov – Sun 14 Nov, 4 days off in a row Remembrance Day

Federal holidays versus your province's holidays

Canada has no single list of holidays that binds every employer. The Canada Labour Code (section 166) names ten general holidays, and they apply to federally regulated workplaces: banks, airlines, railways, telecoms, radio and TV, interprovincial trucking and federal Crown corporations. Everyone else follows the employment-standards law of their own province or territory, and those lists differ.

Most of the ten move with the calendar. Victoria Day is the Monday before May 25 (May 24 in 2027), Labour Day the first Monday of September (September 6) and Thanksgiving the second Monday of October (October 11). Good Friday follows Easter, which is early in 2027 (March 28), so Good Friday is March 26. Canada Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30) and Remembrance Day all land on a Thursday in 2027, which makes three long weekends for anyone who can take the Friday.

Where provinces part company: most keep a holiday on the third Monday of February under different names (Family Day in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and B.C., Louis Riel Day in Manitoba, Heritage Day in Nova Scotia, Islander Day on Prince Edward Island), all of them Monday, February 15 in 2027. Quebec has the Journée nationale des patriotes on May 24 instead of Victoria Day and the Fête nationale on June 24; Yukon and the Northwest Territories add National Indigenous Peoples Day (Monday, June 21); Nunavut adds Nunavut Day (Friday, July 9). Boxing Day is a statutory holiday only in Ontario, and September 30 only in British Columbia, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island and the three territories. Pick a province and the grid, the long weekends and the PDF switch to its own list. Each provincial day comes from that province's employment-standards act: where the act states a rule rather than a date, such as Ontario's Employment Standards Act, 2000, s. 1(1) (“Family Day, being the third Monday in February”), the 2027 date is worked out from that rule, and the table above prints the act, section and rule beside it.

Christmas and Boxing Day on a weekend

In 2027 Christmas Day is a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday. The calendar shades the holidays on their real dates, December 25 and 26. When a general holiday falls on a day you would not have worked, federal and provincial laws generally give a paid day off on a nearby working day instead, and many employers will close on Monday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 28. Which day you get is set by the law that covers you and your employer, so those two weekdays are not shaded here.

Printing on US Letter

This page starts on US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), landscape, with weeks starting on Sunday, as Canadian wall calendars and printers do. Download the PDF and, in the print dialog, choose Actual size or Scale 100%. The year grid stays about 0.45 in (11 to 12 mm) from every edge, more than the 0.12 to 0.25 in a home inkjet or laser cannot reach, so nothing is clipped. For a fridge calendar choose A month per page in portrait, where each day cell carries the holiday's name and you can add your own photo to each month without it leaving your device.

The address keeps your choices, so a link can open a ready-made version: ?region=BC marks British Columbia's days, ?region=ON&lw=1 Ontario's with every long weekend outlined, ?layout=month&orient=portrait opens the monthly version and ?paper=a4&start=mon switches to A4 with Monday-first weeks.

Honest limits

Only statutory days are marked: no school breaks, no civic holidays a city declares, and no observances that are not days off, such as Mother's Day or Halloween. The first Monday of August is marked only where an act makes it a holiday: B.C. Day, Saskatchewan Day, New Brunswick Day, and the first Monday in August in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Ontario's Civic Holiday, Alberta's Heritage Day and Nova Scotia's Natal Day are days off for many workers but not general holidays, so they stay unmarked, as does Easter Monday (except as Quebec's alternative to Good Friday). Newfoundland and Labrador's extra provincial-government holidays, such as St. Patrick's Day, are for its public servants and are not marked. The sources were read once, on 2026-10-13 and 2026-10-14; if a government changes its list after that, this page will lag until it is updated. The main 2027 calendar maker has the same tool for other countries, and the US federal holidays page lists the American days for cross-border planning.

How a long weekend is counted

A long weekend here is any run of three or more days off in a row made only of Saturdays, Sundays and the public holidays this calendar marks for your country (and region, if you pick one). Nothing else counts: a day the source does not list is a working day, no “observed” day is added that the source does not state, and a holiday marked for part of a day only (Queensland’s Christmas Eve, from 6 pm) does not join a run. In England and Wales, Good Friday (26 March 2027) and Easter Monday (29 March) make one four-day run; the other 2027 bank holidays are Mondays, giving three-day weekends, and the substitute days for Christmas make Saturday 25 to Tuesday 28 December four days.

Bridge days are suggestions, not holidays. A bridge day is an ordinary working day between a holiday and a weekend. Take Friday 7 May 2027 off in Germany, after Ascension Day (Christi Himmelfahrt) on Thursday 6 May, and you are off Thursday to Sunday: four days for one day of leave. Two days of leave are listed when they give five or more days off, and three only when they join two weekends — Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 December in England and Wales turn into ten days, Saturday 25 December to Monday 3 January 2028 (the New Year substitute day). A bridge day is never coloured on the grid or in the PDF. Tick Mark long weekends (or add lw=1 to the link) to draw a dashed outline round every run on the sheet and in each PDF layout; month pages also print each run under that month’s holidays.
