Plain: bold headings, no rules or colour. The most ATS-safe of the three.

1 page ยท A4

All three templates are one column, because many ATS parsers read a page straight across, so a two-column layout can splice sidebar lines into your job history.

Your resume stays on this device. It is laid out and turned into a PDF inside this page. Nothing you type is uploaded, and the copy kept between visits lives in this browser's local storage until you clear it.

How to make your resume here

  1. Fill in your contact details. Name, headline, e-mail, phone, city and any links. They print in the body of the page, not in a header area, which some parsers skip.
  2. Fill the sections. One bullet point per line. Use Add a section for projects, certifications, languages or a custom one, and โœ• to remove one you do not need. Empty sections and entries are left out of the PDF.
  3. Put them in order. Drag a section or an entry by its โ ฟ handle, or use the โ†‘ and โ†“ buttons. A recent graduate often puts Education first; someone with ten years of work, Experience.
  4. Pick a template, paper and size. The preview shows every page as it will print, with the real page breaks. US employers expect Letter; most other countries use A4.
  5. Tap Download PDF. Keep a JSON copy too: it opens here again on another computer, where this browser's saved copy is not available.

What it cannot do

  • It does not write or improve your text. There is no AI here, by design: what you type is what prints.
  • It cannot promise that an ATS will rank you. It makes sure every word can be read and is in order; how a company's system scores the words is up to that system.
  • No photo. In the US, UK and Canada recruiters usually advise leaving one off, and a picture gives an ATS nothing to read.
  • No cover letter yet. This page makes the resume only.
  • Letters outside the fonts are left out. PT Sans and PT Serif cover Latin, Cyrillic and many accented letters, but not emoji, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew or CJK; the page names any character it had to drop.
  • The saved copy lives in this browser only. Clearing site data, a private window or another device will not have it; save the JSON for that.

What makes a resume PDF readable by an ATS

An applicant tracking system first turns your file into plain text, then looks for headings, job titles, dates and words that match the advert. Most lost resumes fail at that first step. Three things decide it:

Real text, not a picture. A resume exported as an image, or designed in a tool that flattens text into shapes, extracts as nothing at all. Here every line is a text object in an embedded font (PT Sans or PT Serif, subset to the letters you used) with a ToUnicode map, so selecting and copying the text in any PDF reader gives back exactly what you typed.

One column, in reading order. Text extractors read lines across the full width of the page. With a sidebar of skills beside your job history, line 3 of the sidebar and line 3 of a job can come out glued together. These templates draw one column from top to bottom, and the test for this page runs poppler's pdftotext (a reader this page did not write) on a fixture resume and checks that the name, both employers and all six bullet points come out in order.

Plain headings. Parsers look for words like Experience, Education and Skills. You can rename any section, but a custom title such as "Where I've been" may not be recognised.

The PDF's document title is set to your name, so it shows in the reader's title bar and in a recruiter's file list. Page breaks fall between lines, a bullet point is kept whole on one page, and a section heading never sits alone at the foot of a page: it moves to the next page with its first entry.

Questions

Is this resume builder really free to download, with no trial?

Yes. Download PDF works from the first resume you make, with no watermark, no trial period and no payment step anywhere on the page. The PDF is made by your own browser, so there is no server that could hold the download back.

Can I make a resume with no sign-up?

Yes. There is no account and no e-mail to give. What you type is saved in this browser's local storage on this device, so it is there when you come back on the same browser; Clear all saved resumes empties it in one tap.

Is the PDF ATS-friendly?

The PDF holds real text in one column, top to bottom, in an embedded font that maps back to the letters, so a text extractor reads it in the order you wrote it. Nobody can promise how a given ATS will rank you; this only makes sure it can read every word.

How do I download my resume as a PDF?

Fill in the sections, choose a template and paper size, then tap Download PDF. The file is named after you, for example Mira-Quokkason-resume.pdf. On an iPhone, Safari saves it to Downloads in the Files app; on Android, to the Downloads folder.

Does it use AI to write my resume?

No. It does not write, rewrite or suggest your text, and nothing you type is sent anywhere to be processed. It lays out what you write, in the order you choose.

Under the hood: pdf-lib 1.17.1 and @pdf-lib/fontkit 1.1.1 (both MIT) write the PDF, and load only when you first tap Download PDF. Fonts: PT Sans and PT Serif by ParaType (SIL Open Font License). All are pinned copies served from this page.
