Sign a PDF
Draw, type or photograph your signature, tap where it goes, download the signed PDF. Works on a phone; the file never leaves your device.
Open a PDF, then pick Signature, Initials, Date, Text, ✓ or ✗ and tap the page where it goes.
Your marks
Open a PDF and place at least one mark.
The download keeps every original page as it was (text stays selectable). Each mark is added as a 300 DPI image on top of the page.
Your PDF and your signature stay on this device. The file is opened, signed and saved inside this page. There is no upload and no account; once a PDF is open it keeps working in airplane mode.
How to sign a PDF here
- Open the PDF. Tap Choose a PDF (on a phone this opens Files or Drive), or drop the file onto the box on a computer. The first page appears at the width of your screen.
- Make your signature. Tap Signature and either draw it with a finger, mouse or stylus, type your name and pick one of three handwriting styles, or upload a photo of your signature on white paper and slide the threshold until the paper disappears.
- Tap where it goes. The signature lands where you tap. Drag it to move it; pull a corner to resize it (the shape stays the same). Add initials, the date, a line of text or a ✓ / ✗ the same way, on any page.
- Download. Tap Download signed PDF. The file is saved as
yourfile-signed.pdf, with the original pages untouched underneath your marks.
What it cannot do
- It is a picture of your signature, not a certificate-based digital signature. There is no certificate, no audit trail and no tamper seal. Anyone with a PDF editor can move or remove the image afterwards, and the file does not prove who placed it.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF.
- Form fields are kept but not filled. Fillable boxes stay fillable in the downloaded file; this tool puts marks on top of the page and does not type into the fields. Put a text mark over a field if you need to write there, or fill the form first with Fill PDF, which types into the fields themselves.
- Pages are not reflowed. A mark sits on top of whatever is under it; text on the page does not move out of the way.
What happens to the file
The PDF is drawn on screen with PDF.js (the viewer built into Firefox) and written back with pdf-lib; both are pinned copies served from this page and only load when you open a file. On download, each distinct mark is rendered once as a PNG at 300 DPI or more for its largest placement (a 50 mm wide signature becomes an image about 590 pixels wide), embedded once, and drawn at its rectangle on each page where you put it. Nothing else in the file changes: page contents, fonts, links and form fields are copied as they were, so a contract's text stays searchable and selectable. A page without a mark keeps exactly the drawing instructions it had in your original.
Rotated pages (a landscape scan stored as a portrait page turned 90°, common from phone scanner apps) are handled: the mark is turned to match, so it shows upright where you put it in any PDF reader.
Drawn, typed or photographed?
| Method | Best for | Honest limit |
|---|---|---|
| Draw | A phone, tablet or stylus: the pad goes full screen on a phone and the line is smoothed as you draw | With a mouse most signatures look shaky |
| Type | A neat result in seconds; three handwriting fonts (Dancing Script, Great Vibes, Caveat) | It looks typed, because it is |
| Photo | Your real ink signature: sign white paper, photograph it, slide until the paper is gone | Shadows and grey paper need a higher threshold; a blurry photo stays blurry at 300 DPI |
Remember on this device is off unless you tick it. When on, the signature is kept in this browser's local storage (not on any server) so it is ready next time; Delete from this device removes it in one tap. Do not tick it on a shared or public computer.
Questions
How do I sign a PDF on an iPhone?
Open this page in Safari, tap Choose a PDF and pick the file from Files (save a Mail attachment to Files first). Tap Signature, draw with your finger on the full-screen pad, tap the page where it goes, then Download signed PDF. Safari puts the file in Downloads in the Files app, and Share… can hand it straight to Mail.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Free, with no account, no email, no watermark and no limit on documents. There is no paid tier.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file and your signature stay in this page's memory on your device. The page only fetches its own code and fonts from this site and sends an anonymous page-view count; none of those requests includes the file, its name or your signature. Once a PDF is open you can switch to airplane mode and still sign and download it.
Is this a digital signature?
No. It is an image of your signature on the page, like signing a printout and scanning it. There is no certificate, audit trail or tamper seal. If you were asked for a certified digital signature, this is not one.
Can I put my initials on every page?
Yes: make your initials once and tap Initials on every page. Each copy can then be moved, resized or deleted on its own, and the downloaded file stores the initials image once.
