Your snowman, made
Your snowman
Leave it empty for no sign.
Nothing you type leaves your device. The snowman is drawn in this page and the PDF is built in your browser; the names of a class set are never sent anywhere. The page counts one anonymous event when a file is downloaded (which kind of file, never what is on it), and keeps no draft.
How to make the stand-up snowman
- Print at Actual size (100%, not “Fit to page”) and measure the 50 mm bar at the foot of the sheet. Card of 160 to 250 g/m² (60 to 90 lb cover) stands best; printer paper works if you glue it onto a cereal box first.
- Cut round the solid outline, hat and scarf included, and cut out the brace.
- Fold the strip under his feet back along the dashed line, so it lies flat on the table behind him.
- Fold the brace on its two dashed lines, glue its tall tinted tab to the back of the snowman and its short tab onto the folded strip. He now stands on his own.
Door-size: sheet 1 is the map. Trim the edges marked “trim”, lay each trimmed edge on the dotted overlap strip of the tile before so the round marks with the same letters sit on each other, tape the back, then cut round him. Dress-up: cut out the plain snowman and the pieces; the dotted lines on him show where a hat, a scarf, a face and the buttons go.
Questions
Is there a free printable snowman template PDF?
Yes, free and with no sign-up. “Download PDF” makes the whole thing as an A4 or US Letter PDF (the page picks the size your device’s language suggests, and you can switch under Paper). Everything is drawn at true size with at least 8 mm of white round the edge, so home printers do not clip it. “PNG, 300 dpi” saves the sheet you are looking at as an image, for a print shop or a class whiteboard.
How do I make a life-size snowman for a door?
Choose Door-size and type his height from 60 to 180 cm, hat included. The page tiles him across sheets that overlap by 12 mm. Each tile is labelled with its row letter and column number (B2 is row B, column 2) and carries round join marks in the overlap; sheet 1 is a map of where every tile goes. A 120 cm snowman is 43 cm wide; an interior door is usually 76 to 91 cm wide, so even the 180 cm one (65 cm wide) fits with room for the handle.
| Height | Width (Classic) | Tiles on A4 | Tiles on Letter |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 cm | 22 cm | 6 | 6 |
| 90 cm | 32 cm | 8 | 8 |
| 120 cm | 43 cm | 15 | 18 |
| 150 cm | 54 cm | 18 | 21 |
| 180 cm | 65 cm | 30 | 30 |
Paper does not like rain. On an outside door, put him behind glass, or cover the taped sheets with clear packing tape or self-adhesive film. Stick him up with removable mounting putty or painter’s tape: strong tape can lift paint from a glossy door.
Is there a snowman hat template, or a scarf to cut out?
Choose Dress-up. You get a plain snowman and, sized to him, four hats (top hat, bobble beanie, Santa hat, bowler), three scarves (striped with fringe, knitted, plaid with two ends), four faces, two carrot noses and three rows of buttons. Each hat is drawn from the width of his head where the hat sits, a little wider so no gap shows, and each scarf band from the width of his neck plus a margin on each side; the page’s own test checks that at small, middle and large sizes. Glue the pieces on, or use sticky tack so a child can swap hats again and again.
Which snowman is best for kids?
For ages 3 to 5, the dress-up snowman at 25 to 30 cm: the pieces are big enough for small scissors, and choosing a hat and a face is the fun part. For a colouring session, pick Colour-in: every design prints as clear black outlines with no grey fills, and it saves ink. The door snowman in colour-in is a good group job: each child paints one tile, then you join them.
Can I make one for every child in a class?
Choose Class set and type the names, one per line (up to 40). Each pupil gets a stand-up snowman holding a sign with his or her name, with its brace, packed several to a sheet; tick “Mix the designs” for a different hat and scarf each. Only names you typed are printed. At 14 cm about three snowmen fit on a sheet, so 24 pupils take 9 sheets.
What is the difference between the designs?
Seven designs set the hat, its colours, the scarf, the face and the buttons: Classic (black top hat with holly, red striped scarf), Cosy knit, Santa hat, Gentleman (bowler), Candy cane, Ice blue (top hat with a snowflake) and Woodland. After choosing one you can still change the hat, the scarf and the face. All of them are our own drawing, with no characters from films or brands.
