The slits and the wallet are cut 4 mm bigger than the note, so it slides in without creasing. Dollar, euro and pound sizes are the issuers' own figures; for any other currency, measure a note with a ruler and type it (up to 170 × 90 mm).

Paper

Everything is drawn on your device. Nothing you type is uploaded or saved.

Nothing leaves your device. The card is drawn and the PDF is built in your browser. The page counts one anonymous “PDF downloaded” or “PNG downloaded” event; your names and words never go with it.

How to make a money card

  1. Pick the holder. A Note card is a top-fold card with four small corner slits inside: the note lies flat across the lower half, on show the moment the card opens. A Gift card holder has a pocket glued from a flap at the bottom. A Wallet is a small tri-fold that prints on one side: a pocket, the note inside it, and a flap that tucks in.
  2. Pick the occasion and a design. Birthday puts the age on the biggest balloon or on the cake; graduation adds the name and “Class of”; Eid says Eid Mubarak under our own crescent and lantern drawings. Tick Colour-in version for black outlines a child can colour before the card is given.
  3. Choose the note. The slits are placed for the note you pick, so a €500 card is bigger inside than a €5 one. The page starts on the currency your browser's language suggests; change it if you are giving another.
  4. Download and print at 100% (“Actual size”, not “Fit to page”). The note card and the gift card holder are two pages: print them two-sided with “flip on short edge”. The wallet is one page, one side.
  5. Cut, slit and fold. Cut round the solid outline with scissors. Cut each short black slit with a craft knife on a cutting mat or a thick magazine; the little bars at each end show where to stop. Score the dashed fold line with a blunt knife or a dry ballpoint against a ruler, then fold.

Need an envelope to post it in? Envelope Maker prints one to fit: the note card and the gift card holder fold to about 196 × 141 mm from A4 (a C5 envelope) or 7.9 × 5.2 in from Letter (an A9 envelope); the wallet fits a DL or #10.

Questions

Which notes fit, and where do the sizes come from?

Every US note, from $1 to $100, is the same size: 6.14 × 2.61 inches (156 × 66.3 mm), as the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's uscurrency.gov states. Euro notes grow with their value. The ECB's denominations page gives €5 120 × 62, €10 127 × 67, €20 133 × 72 and €50 140 × 77 mm. The Europa-series €100 and €200 are 147 × 77 and 153 × 77 mm, but the older first-series €100 and €200 (82 mm tall) are still legal tender, so those presets use 82 mm and both series fit. The €500 is 160 × 82 mm: the ECB no longer issues it, but it is still legal tender. The Bank of England lists its polymer notes as about £5 125 × 65, £10 132 × 69, £20 139 × 73 and £50 146 × 77 mm. These figures were copied from those pages in October 2026. For Scottish or Northern Irish notes, Canadian dollars or any other currency, choose Other and type the size you measure. A smaller note always fits a card made for a bigger one, but it sits loose in the slits; pick the note you will actually give.

Is there a free money card template to download as a PDF?

Yes, and it is made for your note rather than a fixed one: pick the holder, occasion and note, then press Download PDF. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The only words on the back are a small “Made with polyatic.com”. The PNG is 300 dpi at the full A4 or Letter size, for printing from a phone or a photo app.

How do I fold the note card and fit the money?

Print two-sided (“flip on short edge”), cut out the card, cut the four slits, then fold along the dashed line with the front outside. Open it, and push one corner of the note into each slit from the front: the slits are diagonal, so each corner tucks behind the paper and the note lies flat across the lower half, on show. The slits cut through to the back of the card, where the four tips show a little; that is why the back carries only a small motif. No two-sided printer? Print page 1, put the same sheet back in the tray to print page 2 on the other side, and try it once on plain paper first.

How do I make the gift card holder?

Print both pages two-sided and cut round the outline, which includes a flap below the card. Fold the flap up along its dashed line, onto the inside, and glue only its two hatched side tabs, so the middle stays open as a pocket 89.6 mm wide and 34 mm deep. Fold the card at the middle. A gift card (85.6 × 54 mm) drops in with its top 20 mm showing above the pocket, so the giver's name on the card and the shop are seen as the card opens. For a gift card box instead of a card, the Gift Box Template has a fold-over gift card holder and boxes you size yourself.

How does the money wallet work?

It prints on one side of the sheet, which becomes the outside, so it needs no two-sided printing. Cut it out and lay it print side down. Fold the bottom band up to make the pocket and glue its two hatched side strips. Slide the note in so it stands on the bottom fold, then fold the top band down over it and tuck the rounded flap into the pocket. The cover carries the design, the pocket front carries the name and your message. It suits Christmas money holders and teacher thank-yous that go into a bigger card or a stocking.

Birthday, Christmas, graduation or Eid: what changes?

The front greeting, a message inside and a design for each: two birthday designs with the age (balloons, a cake with as many candles as fit and the age on its plaque), two Christmas designs (a tree, holly and bells), a graduation cap with the name and the year, two Eid designs (a crescent with a hanging lantern, and a string of lanterns under a crescent), wedding rings and a thank-you bouquet. Every word can be changed. For Eid money (Eidi) for several children, make one card, print as many as you need and write each name by hand, or change the name before each download.

What paper should I use?

For the note card and the gift card holder, matte card of 160 to 220 g/m² (about 60 to 80 lb cover) holds the slits and the pocket best and still feeds through most home printers one sheet at a time. Plain 80 to 100 g/m² paper works, but its slits tear more easily, so cut them a hair shorter than the line. The wallet folds three layers thick, so use 100 to 160 g/m². For the colour-in version, crayons and coloured pencils suit any of these; felt tips show through less on 120 g/m² or more.

Can I write the message by hand?

Yes. Clear the message box and the inside prints blank for your pen; clear Signed too to sign it yourself.
