New Year Printables
Resolutions, a time capsule, a year in review and two party games, with each person’s name and the year.
Your family’s sheets
How to make the sheets
- Type the names. Each person gets their own set, with their name on the name line and the year on every page. Up to 12 people go in one PDF. Leave the names empty and you get one set with a blank line to write a name on.
- Pick Kid, Teen or Grown-up for each person. It changes the questions: a six-year-old is asked for a favourite toy and to draw a picture of themselves, a teenager for the app they use most and what worries them, a grown-up for a normal weekday and what a coffee costs.
- Tick the sheets you want and choose a design. Ink saver prints black lines and no filled areas; Colour-in has big outlined balloons, a firework and stars for children to colour.
- Press Download PDF and print at 100% (“Actual size”). The page shown on the left can also be saved as a 300 dpi PNG; use the arrows to step through every page first.
The year starts as the coming year from 1 December (so in December 2026 the sheets say 2027) and as the current year before that; type another year if you need one. The sheets contain no news or world events: they are about your family.
Questions
Is there a free New Year’s resolution printable for kids?
Yes, this one is free with no sign-up and no watermark. Choose Kid next to a name and the resolution sheet asks for five small, concrete goals: something I want to learn, a way I will help at home, something kind I will do for someone, a place I want to go, and a healthy habit I will keep. Each goal has a second line, How I will do it, because “be nicer” is hard to keep and “read my brother a story on Sundays” is not. That idea has evidence behind it: a 2006 review by Gollwitzer and Sheeran of 94 studies found that people who wrote down when and how they would act reached their goals noticeably more often than people who only stated the goal. At the bottom there is a line for one word for the year, four check-in boxes (March, June, September, December) to tick when you look at the sheet again, and a place to sign and date it.
Is the resolution worksheet a PDF for the whole class or family?
It is one PDF with a set for every name you type, so a parent can make one file for three children, or a teacher can type twelve first names and print a named sheet for each child. Teens get goals about a skill, a habit to start or stop, their body or mind, school, work or money, and something just for fun; grown-ups get health, home and family, work or money, something to learn, and something just for them.
How do I make a time capsule with the printable?
Each person fills in the time-capsule interview, seals it in an envelope with the date written on it (the sheet itself says “Open on 1 January” of the following year) and you put the envelopes in a box with a photo of the day, a ticket or a drawing. Children love the height line most: measure everyone now, write it in, and add a guess for next year; when you open the capsule, measure again and compare. Choose Kid for questions about a favourite food, best friend, toy, song or book, what makes them laugh and what they want to be, plus a box to draw themselves.
Is there a time capsule template for adults?
Yes: choose Grown-up. The questions are the ones that are most surprising to read back a year or ten later: where we live and who lives with us, a normal weekday, what you pay for a coffee and a loaf of bread, what you are reading or watching, and something you want your future self to remember. Teens get their own set with the song on repeat, the app they use most, something they are proud of and something they are worried about.
What New Year’s Eve activities for kids can I print?
For children, the finish-the-sentence cards work well while you wait for midnight: cut the eight cards along the crop marks, put them face down, and each child draws one and finishes it out loud (“At midnight I wish for…”, “If 2026 were a film, it would be called…”). The Colour-in design turns every sheet into something to colour, and the year-in-review page has five stars to colour in for how good the year was.
Are there New Year’s Eve games for adults in the PDF?
Who said it? is the one for grown-ups and mixed ages, for 3 to 12 players. Everyone answers six questions on the slip at the bottom of their sheet (the best thing I did this year, a food I will never eat, the song I secretly love, my hidden talent and so on) without writing their name, cuts it off and puts it in a bowl. The host reads one slip at a time; everyone writes in the grid who they think wrote it. One point per right guess. The players’ names are printed on each sheet, so nobody forgets who is playing.
How do I print it, and what about ink?
The PDF is A4 or US Letter (browsers set to US or Canadian English start on Letter) with 12 mm margins, so home printers do not clip it. Every person’s set follows the previous one, so you can print the whole family at once. The Ink saver design has no filled areas at all, only thin grey lines and black text. The names never leave your device: the sheets are drawn by your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
